The Outbreak aims to be an immersive game, so submit your stories here to be featured on the website and help build the back story to the apocalypse!

You will eventually be able to submit stories via the website, but for now you must submit all survival stories via email.

As global tensions rose, even neutral countries began picking sides. Multiple wars raged across the globe, and so it was only a matter of time before one of the super powers decided to put an end to it once and for all. The potential risks posed by going nuclear was too great for the US army, but biological weapons technology has advanced significantly. Finally they have succeeded in creating what they called the perfect virus for ending wars. The virus, known as MCSI-193, was made available for use against the enemy. MCSI, or Motor and Cognitive Skill Inhibitor, was designed to reduce the victims coordination and partially shut down their Cerebrum. The primitive portion of the brain remained functional, so it could still control involuntary actions such as heart beat, digestion, respiration and body senses. The military now plans to test this new weapon against their real enemies.

The virus to end all wars has done just that. Once powerful armies fell to MCSI-193, but the US military had been careless. As they began to clean up the mess they had created by distributing anti-virus to the innocent victims of the virus, they lost focus. The virus had mutated, allowing itself to transfer from humans to birds. The virus itself was quickly reduced to a few isolated cases in humans, but it was rapidly spreading through the bird population. It was initially thought that this was bird flu, back for another round, but it quickly began obvious that this was far more serious. Entire poultry farms have been completely destroyed, but it is too late. The virus has jumped back to humans, but in an entirely more dangerous way. Victims of the virus show none of the symptoms of the original MCSI-193 virus, that is, until they are critically ill or … dead.

It has been two months since, what is now being called 'The Outbreak' began. Things have gone steadily form bad to worse. The new strain of MCSI-193 is causing the brain to react to death in an altogether strange way. The victim of the virus maintains basic brain functions, but becomes driven by the need to constantly eat. The victim at this point appears to be completely dead from a medical point of view, but they walk and are extremely aggressive, especially towards other people.. living people.
